When wood absorbs extra moisture it becomes a favorable host for mold and mildew. You have to kill that mold and mildew or it will totally destroy your deck or dock.
A properly applied mold killing treatment will cure the mold and mildew problem. And if a good water sealant is applied you will no longer have a wood rotting problem. Your decks and docks will give you years of pleasure.

We live in a sub-tropical climate in the Too much pressure in the washer can cause your deck to “fur”. Too much pressure will destroy the wood fibers and cause them to fluff off the wood causing the fur effect. For soft woods like Pressure Treated Southern Pine commonly used in the Keys, we use approximately 1200 lbs. per square inch of pressure. Harder woods and recycled polymer decks should never be over 1700 lbs per square inch. We only use cold pressure washers because warm pressure washing also raises the grain and actually is worst for the wood when trying to remove mold. If your wood is cleaned and sealant is applied annually we recommended only one coat of sealant.

Deck & Dock Restoration is a three step process. We begin by killing and removing the mold and mildew on the deck or dock. Then we let the wood dry and apply a coat of Thompson’s Water Sealant. When that is dry we apply a second coat and let it dry. When clear water is applied to the surface it will puddle. That wood is now protected and won’t absorb water.
