Put up your shutters

Protect all openings from wind and flying debris.

Bring all loose items like outside furniture, potted plants, grills and such indoors.

Fill bath tubs and sinks in case water is needed for clean up problems after the storm passes and FKAA water isn’t available.

Turn refrigerator to high if it contains food so it will stay cold for longer when the electricity is lost.

Turn off water at the street in case a pipe gets broken on your side of the meter.

Turn off propane gas,

Boats. Let air out of boat trailer tires, fill boat with water, remove boat cover and try to find a way of securing boat and trailer to a tree or house column if possible.

Cover A/C with plastic and tape.

Check gates and fences for weaknesses and brace if necessary.

Discard all fallen coconuts and loose pieces of wood and material.

Keys Home Watcher must be allowed to shutter some homes up to 72 hours before the Hurricane to ensure we can service all of our customers before the storm hits.

After the storm passes
Home Watchers will move everything back into place including removing and re-storing your shutters for the same cost of $75 per hour. Removing shutters and putting items back usually is done a bit faster and cheaper then the set up. We’ll drain the boat, re-inflate trailer tires and put your boat cover back on. If you’d like, we can arrange for our lawn service to clean your property of the leaves, twigs and debris that are everywhere after a big storm. We’ll even pressure wash your siding to remove all the debris that sticks to the windward side of your house.

Will Be Staying
During Hurricanes that are category 3 or less. Any hurricane stronger than that and we plan to evacuate. But we will get back here and start checking people’s homes as soon as the County authorities allow reentry into the Keys. We guarantee that within 12 hours after the all clear is given a Home Watcher will be at your property checking to see its condition. A Home Watcher will call you as soon as possible while at your property and give you a verbal update on your property’s condition. If necessary we will suggest repairs or give you the piece of mind knowing all is well in paradise. If there are any problems we will email you photographs of the problem within hours of its discovery and we’ll take care of any problems at your direction.
